Hi this isn’t a post about my physical recovery! So far this week I’ve done 1 new thing I’ve never had to do before and I’ve also learned to enjoy another thing. It’s becoming that time of year where everyone is gearing up for school volleyball and at my school we start with open gyms. Originally the plan was to go to get some reps with serving and easy passes but that plan didn’t work out. No one wants to do the basics at open gym when a coach isn’t running it. This made me take on the role of “running” it since our head coach hasn’t been there. It’s so hard being a coach and I’ve always been thankful for all that my coaches do for me but now I really understand. The second thing I’ve started this week was coaching at a little kids volleyball camp my school team hosts. There are the people who love kids and then there’s me not to fond of them. But I coached last year at the camp too and I knew it wasn’t going to be that bad. This year I have really tried to enjoy it. Honestly for not being a kid person and being with 10 six year olds for 2 hours I think I’m doing pretty well. Plus I‘m really having fun this year by being overexcited for them and I really do have a great group of 1st grade girls along with my other teammates helping out. The point of this post is to show that my injury has not only made me change physically but also mentally and how I go about things. I used to be more negative and I’m starting to realize life is too short for that negativity (sorry that’s really cheesy). Anyway at the end of the week I’ll reflect on it all but I just felt really proud with the person I’ve put out to younger people the past few days!
